Lessons in life from Steve Jobs

Steve Jobs, the late co-founder of Apple, wasn’t just smart and successful – he was inspiring.

Here are some of his most memorable quotes:

“Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle. As with all matters of the heart, you'll know when you find it.”

You may be in a ridiculously high-paying job, but does it make you happy? The take home message from this quote is to pursue your passion in life. Steve combined his passion for design with technology; the very act of doing what he loved is what allowed him to create such a successful product.

“My favourite things in life don't cost any money. It's really clear that the most precious resource we all have is time.”

Steve thought from a young age that he wouldn’t live long so it was really important to him to make the most of life. Every minute that passes is a minute we’ll never get back – use your time on this earth wisely and make every minute count.

“My model for business is The Beatles. They were four guys who kept each other's kind of negative tendencies in check. They balanced each other, and the total was greater than the sum of the parts. That's how I see business: great things in business are never done by one person, they're done by a team of people.”

Steve was never the best at what he did but he was great at leveraging the skills of others – whether it be Wozniak’s programming skills or the expertise of a designer – to create his products.
